It's probably obvious to anyone who's watched me for a while that I don't write journals very often. However, this is something I'm intending to rectify, and to start with I thought I'd show you all some of the kind of stuff I've been up to. :meow:

Early last year I was hired to create a series of cartoons to illustrate a video being made for the German law firm Anwaltskanzlei Weiß & Partner, informing people of their services advising and defending people accused of online piracy.

All the images you see in the video were made by Yours Truly. A departure from my usual style, but nonetheless and enjoyable exercise in adapting to the needs of a client. I feel being able to change stylistic gears like that is a useful - possibly crucial - skill for any aspiring illustrator.

:happybounce: A few of my favourite of the cartoons are in my gallery for closer enjoyment. :happybounce:

Hi, I'm CrimsonMagpie. I've always been a dick, but then I got radiation poisoning and now I'm a giant dick. I create art, and sometimes understand the things that happen around me.

Stalingrad Dawn by CrimsonMagpie
Stalingrad Dawn
Five years ago, whilst still in college, I made my first proper comic; a fictionalised telling of the battle of Pavlov's House, told from the point of view of a resident of the titular building who joins the resistance in the Battle of Stalingrad. For practical reasons it was entirely black & white, but I liked the last panel and wanted to colour it for my own satisfaction. However, coursework took priority and I forgot about this.

Since then I've made several abortive attempts to colour this using various different methods... none for some reason working. Then, a few days ago I remembered this thing, and decided to put my recently acquired digital skills to use and finally finish this thing. :dummy:

So yeah, long story short; this image has a lot of history; longest gestation of any pic in my gallery.  :B

Mooncalves're like buses.... :iconjuap:

This is a warm-up sketch from a few weeks ago that got the colour treatment. I've gotten into the habit of setting aside a half-hour or so before bed for little indulgences like this. :meow:

025747 'Amethi' by CrimsonMagpie
025747 'Amethi'
Been ages since I've done any personal art, so last night I slapped some colours on a throwaway mooncalf sketch from last year. :meow:

Nothing much to say about this little indulgence; it's just a little bust-shot of a mooncalf medic called 025747 'Amethi'. I do enjoy how quickly ink and Photoshop allow one to visualise ideas like this.

One of over 30 images I drew for the German law firm Anwaltskanzlei Weiß & Partner, for a video informing people of their services assisting people accused of online piracy. I thought it would be interesting to show what kind of things I'm sometimes hired to do.

After having Anwaltskanzlei Weiß & Partner sort out all his legal issues, the main character Andreas is carefree and happy once again! :la:
