I hope I don't have to spell out the pun!
This is what I do for money! It was commissioned for the cover of a London-based IT company's annual hard-copy compilation of it's monthly newletters, sent out to all their clients and whatnot. The big thing this past year was apparently the new Windows 8 phone or something... I've no idea, I'm a technological Philistine who draws what he's told.
The final version was different; they wanted him happy-surprised, and his costume light turquoise and mid-blue, matching the colours of their company logo (which ~Tinoculars
kindly stripped into the image to look like a neon sign, replacing the top row of lit windows). However, I like this original colour scheme more, so that's what you're getting. I was thinking about stripping a photo of the phone into the image, but was pleasantly surprised that people recognised what I'd drawn, so it stayed as drawn!
The colouring is deliberately bright and bold, to evoke the 80s Silver Age comics. Alas, my linework is more modern in style.
