As I do whenever there's a community announcement, I had a look at the Inspired by You contest when it was announced. Browsing the entries I noticed that there were hardly any traditional ones, so I thought I'd have a shot at it.
My idea was for something semi-abstract, distilling the aesthetic essences I perceived from the car and turning them into something between a depiction and a 2D design. This is all about angles and alignments, every edge following one or a handful of angles and many lining up with each other. I tried to capture the aggressive muscle-car feel that Dodge is famous for, and abstracting it to instill some of the sophistication their recent cars have. It's bigger than most of my paintings, as I wanted it to be theoretically suitably impressive when hung in a corporate lobby type environment.
I apologise for the quality of the image; it's a photograph rather than a scan. I'll be getting the original painting scanned later in the week.
my god this is awesome as fuck look at that headlight man. it's staring me right in the eyes with that epicness also, that carbon grid looks awfully well done.
really enjoy this piece of art- it has a lot of stillness and is very dynamical at the same time, also a lot of shine but diving in the shadows . Very well balanced abstract work )) succes

The grid probably took longer to paint than anything else on the car.
