For the plains I was heavily inspired by Dartmoor, that wonderful place so near to where I live. It's pretty much an integral part of me, and I wanted to inject a little local flavour into the project.
There's almost no fantasy in this painting, apart from my general style. The view itself is completely made-up, but in ever other respect it's just a painting of Dartmoor. One of my biggest inspirations was the patterns of shadow created on the moors by the clouds on an otherwise sunny day.
This one was probably the most fun to do, and took barely more than a day, as nothing went wrong and everything turned out like I imagined. This is the advantage of having a strong idea in the mind beforehand.
