Museum of Moustaches by CrimsonMagpie Museum of Moustaches by CrimsonMagpie
More college work.

The brief for this was to create a poster for a hypothetical 'museum of moustaches'. It had to have a Victorian feel to it, and the text to use was specified to the letter, with no room for ad-libbing.

Most people went the traditional route of making their posters look Victorian; sepia tones, etching-style drawings, etc... Because of this I decided to go down the more clean-cut Parisian style of Henri Tolouse Lautrec.

The position of every single letter was measured out precisely, and the the black at the bottom was painted around the red letters. It took quite a long time. :B

Acrylic on paper, 29.7 x 42cm / 11.7 x 16.54"

Hahaa, thanks, we'll have to see what happens. ;)

Unfortunately this is only A3, so it couldn't be reproduced any bigger than that, but I might entertain the idea of doing more stuff like this but bigger sometime in the future. :meow:

I love it alot. Reminds me of a French artist who did cafe adverts (can't remember his name), but you're like a super avantgarde version of him.

Henri de Tolouse-Lautrec? Yes, this is basically a little homage to him. Or a blatant imitation if you like. =p
