This originated as part of the owl project we did at college, back in winter of 2010. It stared as a little sketch, in which I had the idea to produce a repeatable strip of owls on a branch, with various decorative applications. I didn't have time to finish it at the time; the most I could do was sketch everything out during an all-nighter the night before hand-in....
I finally dug the sketches out again a few weeks ago to paint them up. Originally I'd planned to paint them all in grey watercolour style washes, but after so long decided instead on something slicker and more vivid.
You may notice I've been referring to 'them'. That'd because this is in fact a triptych; three separate paintings designed to go together. I'd like to thank *tintits for digitally blending them together so expertly. Each section was painted on A2 paper, so all together they'd be pretty big!
Which is your favourite owl? Also, suggest names for them all if you want!
Acrylics on paper, 180cm (70") wide
Thanks so much to *tintits for suggesting, and ^deshrubber for featuring this as a DD!
If you like this you might like some of my other owls too, also boobs...
I like Nr.5 from the left most. And that other one, with those horns,ya know.I suggest calling them all Dr Snaggles and numerating them although on second thought that name would perhaps not exactly fit the overall mood of the pic. Better call one of them Mr. Sniggles. The one with the horns.
That does seem to be a very popular one, and I painted it with the express intention of seeing if it would be. Sniggles and Snaggles would actually be very appropriate names for the little KKK ones.
Better call one of them Mr. Sniggles. The one with the horns.
