I spent way too much time trying to get the ratlines right, I thought it worth it though, I hate seeing artists trying to depict things when they don't actually know how they work.

So. . . this is Jane from an old British cartoon adaptation of Treasure Island called Legends Of Treasure Island. She's not in the original book. Her story goes that she was kidnapped and held for ransom by the pirates but she was such a bitch that her parents didn't really want to get her back.... :lol:

Despite being almost forgotten the cartoon was voiced by the likes of Dawn French, Hugh Laurie, Richard E Grant and Rob Brydon.

I spent way too much time trying to get the ratlines (pronounced 'ratlins') right, I thought it worth it though; it's better than trying to fudge something in the hope of it looking right.

Oh my! This is just stunning peice of work and to me looks perfect!
Been planning to draw some of the charachters from this series but in black and white but never as good as this O_o

I loved this series and just rediscovered it on youtube, cant buy it on DVD :(

Love how dark it is and I´m on the evil side :P Too bad they died :( I liked them so much and no more seasons were made :( Long silver, Pew and the pirates :(

I just wish I had more time for fanart like this; I've an affinity for older and more obscure cartoons. I used visual reference, but the character and personality was from my memory of watching the first TV run (never watched it since then :crying:), and I seem to recall her being quite the turbulent bitchy personality, hence the darkness. =p

LOVE and dearly miss this tv series. Loved it from start to finish.

If i may add some friendly critique?
* I think her left ear should've been slightly higher, or perhaps her right ear a little lower, they appear unbalanced as they are.
* The face shape implies she has her head slightly turned but her face is looking directly toward the center. Having made this error only recently and still quite often, I dont really have the right to judge. It is a good effect, however still slightly off.
* The background is rather well done and I think you've got the lighting very accurate.

Overall there are a few imperfections but nothing major, most of it that i can see would be slight alterations t the image... something slightly higher or bigger for example. Otherwise the colors, shades and lighting I am pleased with.

I'd give you a proper critique but i cant at this point :) so this will have to do. Im not good at giving real critiques as i find im not a harsh person.

Of course. I see what you mean about the unbalanced ears and facial angle, I think the main culprit for the latter is her right (our left) eyebrow, ah well; live & learn. . . I hope in the time since I've done this image that I've improved though.

Great work! I was a big fan of this series when it first aired back in 1993, when I was 10. Some of the second season's episodes were really dark and creepy and were shown completely uncut. You'll be pleased to hear all 26 episodes have been uploaded by this user on YouTube:

Just been watching them. They're not the best quality, as they were recorded on old fuzzy VHS, but it's the only way of seeing the whole 2 seasons.
