Steampunk Jane by CrimsonMagpie Steampunk Jane by CrimsonMagpie
Yet more digital painting things. I got lazy again and painted over one of my sketchbook drawings. :B

This is the most involved and time-consuming digital painting I've done thus far, since all of my previous ones had only a very few areas of different colour, whereas this has many more. I need to practice throwing together quick backgrounds though, since they're not a strong-point of mine....

Thank-you. :floating: To be honest though, the only reason it's not more detailed is because it was only a practice painting and I got lazy. . . :B

You like? I was quite pleased with the design myself. :B I am? O_o This one kept changing as the painting progressed because I'd made it too dull at the start, and had to add darkness and highlights to it after painting the figure. . .

I like very much, actually I was thinking about making a life-sized gun out of the same foam I used to make that car, would you be interested in designing a gun if I were to find the time for that? :iconimthinkingplz: It looks cool and realistic, I assume you painted the figure in a separate layer if you worked on the background afterwards? :O

Um, if you really wanted to spend time doing that. . . :O

Nope, I'm old fashioned and work all on one layer. I just paint round the figure.

Well, if you think it's such a bad idea.....

 If you're so afraid of modern technology.....Layers are your friends though, you should try them sometime. ;)

It's not a bad idea, but aren't you meant to be studying? :evileye:

I can use layers, but I usually prefer being all primitive about it.

Impressive. You still manage to keep a traditional painted look when you do digital art, and it looks quite nice. =) I really enjoy the shading on her clothes and armour.

Thanks, I guess it just comes from doing what I know in a different medium. =p I tried to keep the shading on her coat quite soft so it looked like heavy material.
